Ryan Scott – Paddle Maker
I have been coming to the Oregon Country Fair since 1992, and became a juried crafter about 10 years ago. The fair is my happy place, where my son grew up and my yearly “family vacation.”
Trees have been my life since learning that I share their breath. Working with wood nourishes my soul, knowing that the wood’s story can continue to be heard through its repurposed use. Much of what I create are ‘one-of-a-kind’ items from ‘salvaged’ wood from landscape renovations, specialty ‘finds’ from the natural world or scraps from the woodshop itself. I use peach and apple woods, cherry, black walnut, maples, birch, and other specialty wood.
I make kayak and canoe paddles, spoons, spatulas, knives, cheese/charcuterie boards, and mash paddles for making beer or compost teas. Thanks for looking and please contact me if you have further questions, comments, or orders.
