Green Tickets 2009
What is the climate impact of our fabulous fun Fair? Help us help the environment! Choose to add a $1 Green Ticket contribution to your ticket and you can partner with us to fund one of three sustainability focus areas in which the Fair has one or more active projects underway: Renewable Energy/Peach Power, Mass Transporation and Philanthropy.
Renewable Energy/Peach Power
Help turn the power of the sun into the electricity that powers the Fair!
Combined with wise use of resources and efficiency projects, Peach Power seeks to eventually turn the Fair into a net renewable electricity exporter over the course of a year. Your contribution will energize the Peach Power fund, turning the blessed energy of the sun into the beautiful sounds and light emanating from the stages of the Fair. Join us as we follow the path of the sun and create a renewable energy oasis at the Fair.
Philanthropy
This option focuses on the triple bottom line issue of social equity!
The social equity component of the triple bottom line is expressed most clearly through the Fair's philanthropic programs. Every year, the Fair gives away about $50,000 through the Bill Wooten Memorial Endowment fund, dedicated to arts and environmental education programs for youth in our home community of Fern Ridge; the Jill Heiman Vision Fund basic program dedicated primarily to Lane County non-profits, and the OCF Board donation fund small grants program for mostly Oregon non-profits. Help us continue to support these community building programs with your Green Ticket contribution.
Mass Transportation
Help the Fair continue to keep the Free shuttle service Free!
For years, the Fair has solely funded a free shuttle service from Eugene to the Fair site in Veneta for all ticket holding Fairgoers as well as day workers who staff many of the booths and activities at the event. Recently, the cost to the Fair to purchase this service from LTD has increased dramatically. This service keeps thousands of cars off the roads and parked at home, decreases our carbon footprint significantly, and helps keep visiting the Fair affordable for all. If you feel strongly, as we do, that this improtant service, that impacts all three areas of the triple bottom line (environment, economy and social equity) simultaneously, must continue, then this is the GreenTicket for you.
